Green House Data Presents Virtual Tour at Data Center World 10/2009

CHEYENNE, Wyoming -- (8/18/09) – Data Center World, the largest global event of its kind and one of the 50 fastest growing tradeshows in the US, has selected Green House Data to lead a virtual tour during its conference. The conference is a leading educational event for data center professionals. The data center association AFCOM is presenting the event and they are considered the premier data center association and represent more than 4,500 data centers globally.

In keeping with their mission of educating data center professionals, they have selected President of Green House Data, Shawn Mills, to lead a virtual tour, “Going Green and Renewable Energy Are Saving Us Money and Bringing Our Operation to a Whole New Level” on Sunday, October 4, 2009.

Located in beautiful (and thankfully windy) Cheyenne, Wyoming, Green House Data’s “green” facility is designed to support 10,000 square feet of raised floor space.

The data center is powered entirely by renewable wind energy through a combination of wind energy from its local wind farm and renewable energy credits. In addition to being wind powered, the secure and high-availability facility is designed to operate at approximately 60% lower energy utilization per square foot than comparable data centers of the same size. The environmentally conscious design takes into account the need for reliability so the data center is still tied to the local power grid to ensure maximum uptime.

During the live feed virtual tour, Mr. Mills will examine the following considerations of a renewably powered data center: building the facility, internally funding the project and gaining buy-in from management. He will also discuss the importance of location in building a green facility as well as speak candidly about some of the challenges Green House Data experienced. Finally, Mr. Mills will touch on various options the company explored when assessing different ways to use green power from implementing a tiered approach to being powered with a combination of on-site locally generated and Green-E energy credits.
